Wine producer, Waipara
Hills Wine Estate, has for the second vintage in a row been awarded
a gold medal for their distinctive Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc at
the prestigious Liquorland International Top 100 Wine Show. Only
three other gold medals were awarded in the 2003 Sauvignon Blanc
class this year they were Coopers Creek, Kim Crawford and Whitehaven
Wines.
Earlier this year Waipara
Hills also received Gold for its 2002 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc,
at the New World Wine Awards while their first vintage, 2001 Marlborough
Sauvignon Blanc was second equal in the prestigious UK Wine Magazine’s
New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc tasting.
Waipara Hills Sales and
Marketing Manager Blair Fergus described the award as a “tremendous
achievement having such consistency with successive vintages”.
Waipara Hill’s production
has grown four fold in two years and next year planned production
will reach 450 tonne.
